Skin Care New Year’s Resolutions
Posted on by AdminJanuary is the perfect time for a fresh start and a chance to get back on track for personal well being. It’s so important to make time for ourselves, even if it means 5 minutes to just exhale. A new year gives us all time for a new beginning and a new skin care regime. Skincare maintenance is an easy schedule to keep to. Whether you are a 2 in 1 shampoo kind of person and only have time to cleanse and exfoliate in the shower, or if you love your night time routine while watching your pvr while masking in between commercials. Anything is something! Rejuvs Medispa’s top new year’s must dos for skin in 2017 are:
- Retinol in your 30’s this is a key step to antiaging. Not only does it brighten and soften the skin instantly, the long-term results are beautiful.
- Antioxidants in the am! The most powerful ingredients to combat environmental aggressors. Antioxidants like Green tea help reduce inflammation while vitamin C is a great skin brightener. Having this layer under your moisturizer is like having your own skin care army!
- Exfoliation. Chemical peels, micro beads; you name it, we love them all! Exfoliating your skin’s surface not only refines the skin, it increases skin’s metabolism. Creating a penetration pathway for all those great skin care products. When treating hyperpigmentation, exfoliating helps even out the skin tone and revealing a brighter complexion. It helps reduce pore size by removing all of its impurities and smoothes it out like a baby’s bottom.
- A good night’s sleep. Did you know that the average person requires 7-8 hours of sleep for overall health and well being? Stimulants like coffee and energy drinks, alarm clocks and external lights (this includes electronic devices too) can interfere with our circadian rhythm or our natural sleep/wake cycle. Fatigue can show in our daily performance and can reflect in our skin too. A sallow, greyish complexion can show sleep debt.
- Ever wonder why you look so refreshed after that 60 minute massage? As well as reducing muscle tension and stress, Massage Therapy promotes relaxation by action of the Parasympathetic Nervous System (PNS). The PNS is responsible for “rest and digest” and all the activities that happen when your body is at rest. ( Therapeutic Massage encourages relaxation due to the action of 3 hormones: Cortisol, Dopamine and Serotonin. Massage therapy promotes the reduction of cortisol “the stress hormone”, increases Dopamine which regulates emotions and movement and increases Serotonin which regulates mood, pain sensation, digestive function and a healthy sleep cycle). Massage therapy promotes restful sleep through the action of Serotonin which is the precursor to Melatonin which controls your natural sleep cycle.
Start this new year relaxed and well rested – your skin will show the world your resolutions! Don’t forget that most extended health benefits plans renew January 1st.
